COVID-19 Relief & Support Resources for Chicago Artists
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unprecedented strain on the arts and cultural community. Listed below is a selection of initiatives offering support at the University and state level.
UChicago Community Support: The University is launching an initiative to provide emergency support and address some of the immediate needs of local residents, businesses, and community-based nonprofits on the South Side. Programs include meal distribution, small business support, and nonprofit assistance.
Arts for Illinois Relief Fund: Established by Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot, this fund is open to applications from workers and organizations in the creative industries. This includes all artists and artisans, including stage and production members and part-time cultural workers, and large to small arts organizations in all disciplines. The fund is also accepting donations from individuals, foundations, and public sources.
DCASE COVID-19 Arts Relief & Resources: In addition to supporting the Arts for Illinois Relief Fund, DCASE (the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events) has put together a partial list of local and national resources for the arts community.
